Hey everyone, hope your all keeping well. Recently the Movie Zarafa gt released on DVD and Blu ray. I just thought i would pass on a line test or two from some of the scenes i was lucky enough to be asked to animate.
Finally, I'm able to reveal what i've been teasing in some of my recent posts.
It is with my absolute pleasure to introduce to you all, Lucha Dor (the alien) P Nut (the not alien) and Daisy...(the cow)
Not to anti-climatic i hope...
The H Files is pretty special for me as its a t.v show that i have created, developed and designed over the course of many a late night and many a reckless days doodling. Whats even more exciting is the show is currently in development! Some very awesome people are now onboard to inject their stamp of awesomeness and together we hope to get a strong little t.v show together. The dynamics of the show are something i will elaborate upon in future posts as well as some concept stuff. Theres also many more characters to meet...so keep checking back. One other bit of good news, The show has just recently been selected to attend Cartoon Forum this September. How insane is that!
Heres some ruff key poses i done for a scene in Zarafa. The scene itself was animated elsewhere in the world. It was tough to begin with, as i tend to veer on the side of straight ahead animation. Leaving out chunks of ruff inbetweens was pretty tough but overall the process forced me to come at the scene with a different mind set. I'm very curious to see how it turned out.
Hey Everyone, So the tease i've been teasing for the past week has been slightly held up. It has to be seen elsewhere before it can be seen here, so as a way of an apology i've posted up some work from a job i was on recently.
Through the awesome people at Nickelodeon I was asked to redesign the mascot for Gabi H2O
He was about to step into the digital world and needed a few slight changes. Above is the design that was finally chosen (there were plenty more concept designs which i will post at a later date) This design was then ushered on to get CG-ified
Not too shabby!
As well as character design I also done some images for the shooting script. They were very ruff partly due to the extremely tight deadline...is there ever any other sort of deadline...
The shooting script in action.
Apologies again for the not being able to elaborate on the tease from the previous posts. I'm hoping next week for sure...Have a great day
Hope your all well. Heres a few designs i have done for a show called "The Overcoat" its currently getting knocked in to shape by the good people at A Man and Ink studio based in Galway. I've seen how it's progressing and the hard work is paying off because it's looking very very cool.
...What the heck...heres another little teaser :) Pop back soon to see what its all about...
Have a great day!
A while back i was lucky enough to work with many talented people on the production of Zarafa. I have yet to see the final film. Heres a few keys from one of the scenes i done. I was pretty excited to see they used a production still from said scene on the official site. I'm sure you can guess which one that is.
How many of you read the title of this post in a Liam Neeson from Clash of the Titans accent?
This wee chap is my cartoonish take on a Kraken. It was designed for a t.v show thats currently in development. Its wildly different to the one that was eventually chosen but i'm very glad the search for the chosen design allowed this design to emerge.
Man! It sure has been a long time since i posted anything.
A few months ago i was asked to do up some designs for a short film. As you can see it involved cavemen. Unfortunately the film never got beyond the development stage. I thought i would post some of the designs here. Have a great day everyone.
Heres an old doodle I decided to colour up. Looking at it again, I think I prefer the non colour version more. Maybe i'll fix it at some point in the future...maybe...
This is an unused concept design i had from a short film idea. The final designs aren't fully complete so who knows maybe elements of this one might just leak their way back in.
Here are a few concepts i've been playing around with for friends of mine. I really enjoyed playing around with these characters, so fingers crossed they get a chance to live beyond these doodles.
Heres two scenes i worked on from the Sylvain Chomet film "L'illusionniste" I feel lucky to have work on such a unique film and am greatful to work with such a talented group of people so passionate and commited to animation. So thank you to everyone that made working on this film a real treat for me. If you get the chance to see the film i hope you enjoy it.
Going through old files on my hard drive i found a few designs i was asked to do for a project some time last year. Since they werent used and just sitting there, i've just lashed a few of them together and voila! a blog post. While i'm here i'd like to say thank you for all the awesome comments over the last while.
Man it's been a while since the last post and so as to get the ball rolling again heres a few doodles from my sketchbook i done while on the dependably undependable DART. They were drawn over the last few months when the weather was baltic, hence most of them are rugged up tih the nines.
The other day the animation paper i ordered got delivered, needless to say having recieved it i was bursting to animate. So after a few stops and starts i had an evening to really get stuck in and immerse myself into animating anything i felt like. After a flurry of flipping, doodling, erasing and the odd piece of tape for re-pegging this is the result. Its ruff as guts, very unrefined and needs heaps of finessing but man did i enjoy it ;) My apologies for the qualty of the video, i've been having trouble with the camera i have so had to use an old web cam. Hopefuly you can still see whats going on and with a bit of luck i'll be able to get a better quality version posted soon maybe with the corrections done aswell. Anyway heres two images form te test on what it's ment to look like. ;)
Heres some horse doodles i came across while going through old files on the computer. There pretty old so apologies for any wonky anatomy. As well as the post i also just want to say Thanks so much to everyone thats left comments and visited this blog so far, it's very much appreciated so Thank you all.
Looking over some old work recently i came across this image. I vaguely remember going to colour it with pinks and yellow's and other such colours. As you can see that went out the window.
What started out as a doodle while on the phone, dont know who i was talking to or what was going through me head for to be doodling a crocodile but how and ever. I decided to take the doodle and evolve it into a more finished drawing. Heres a few of the doodles i done to find the finished piece. There was heaps more little doodles done to but heres a few of the main doodles that dictated the final doodle.
